I love to read. I always have. According to legend, I was reading Golden Books alone by 3. Babysitter's Club by 7. I distinctly recall reading Harlequin romances at 9. I read War and Peace in 3 days. I continue to go through books like underwear - a new one everyday! So, it only makes sense (to me) that as I get older, I wonder if my children will be readers like me. I hope so, and in that vein, I buy books for them. What? I know, I know. But come on, it's not like I'm buying baby shoes or layettes. (Although, when I worked at Pottery Barn Kids, I may have purchased the occasional crib sheets on sale...) I choose books that have beautiful illustrations and beautiful stories. Here is what I have so far:

I could easily spend $100 on books and not think twice, though when I need jeans, $40 seems outrageous. These are my priorities :) BUT, I need to keep an eye on these things and since there's no hurry (as I do not have a child to share these books with), I have a loooooong wish list on Amazon specifically for more children's books that I want. Take a look if you like, maybe you'll find something YOU want! :)

ReplyDeleteI love love love The Big Bad Wolf and Me. When I worked at Barnes & Noble I had to keep myself from buying a lot of kids books but that one I gave in on :)

ReplyDeleteLindsey, You worked at B&N? That was my dream job in high school. Until I went in and asked at the information desk where I could find a book on Eleanor Roosevelt. The girl helping me typed it in, then said, we don't have anything. I was like, are you kidding me? That's impossible. I looked at the screen and she spelled Roosevelt with one O and I decided if I worked there, I'd probably kill her. True story.
